40 years of Brühl Safety GmbH - definitely a success story!
In 2023, Brühl Safety GmbH will look back on 40 years of company history. Well-founded know-how, exceptional innovative strength, and continuous growth account for the success of the past years.
How it all began ...
On April 15, 1983, Hans Georg Brühl started his professional independence as a master locksmith and quickly made a name for himself in the Siegerland region with the help of word-of-mouth advertising. He soon expanded his business, received more and more orders from outside the region and focused his activities on the growing market of protective grilles and guards.
In 1985, twin brother Heinrich Brühl joined the company and Hans Georg und Heinrich Brühl GbR was founded. Together, the brothers achieved a breakthrough in the market for high-quality protective fencing systems. On May 1, 1991, Hans Georg Brühl GmbH was founded with initially 16 permanent employees.
With high-quality products and the development of a flexible protective fence system, sales and the number of employees increased rapidly and the spatial capacities at the original location in Netphen-Dreis-Tiefenbach were soon exhausted. In 1996, the company gradually moved to the premises in Netphen-Deuz to meet the growing requirements. Here, a factory building was built first, followed by an office building in 1998.
The years 1997 and 1998 were characterized by extraordinary economic success - Hans Georg and Heinrich Brühl took advantage of this to make further investments and, among other things, set the course for the future with the acquisition of a powder coating plant.
Due to further growth in the number of employees, the office building had to be extended in 2002. In 2006, an extension to the production hall doubled the production area, which also reached its capacity limit.
An important milestone in the company's development was also the certification of Brühl's quality management system to DIN EN ISO 9001 in 2007 in order to meet the increased requirements on the national and international terrain. 2008, the year of the company's 25th anniversary, was then the year with the highest sales in the company's history to date: for the first time, sales exceeded the 15 million euro mark.
The credo at Brühl is to always put the customer and his needs first and to continuously invest in relationships based on partnership. One tool for this was the Brühl General Product Catalog, which was introduced in 2010 and has since been reissued several times. It was designed as a handbook for machine and plant engineering to provide better information and to involve the customer in all issues relating to protective equipment in machine and plant engineering.
The award of the "Sicher mit System" ("Safe with a System") seal of quality in February 2011, which is given by the Berufsgenossenschaft Holz & Metall (BGHM) to companies that can be certified as having systematic and effective occupational health and safety, is an example of Brühl's likewise continuous internal development.
The number of employees rose with steady consistency and had increased more than tenfold by the end of 2016.
On January 15, 2017, the company was renamed Brühl Safety GmbH due to its international orientation. Since the death of Hans Georg Brühl in March 2018, Heinrich Brühl and Kai Wienecke, who was appointed as the third managing director on January 01, 2017, have been in charge of the company's fortunes.
Due to the great market success of BRÜHL machine safety gates, Brühl Safety Doors GmbH was founded on 01.01.2018. This company stands for the entire Brühl range of power-operated machine safety gates.
The number of employees and sales figures, which continue to rise in line with the company's success, once again push the production and administration areas to their capacity limits. Due to this, Brühl acquires the production and administration buildings of the former DEUMA in 2018, which are only a few hundred meters away from the previous location, and thus Plant II is created at Waldstraße 17.
In 2019, Brühl Project will be founded, which, in addition to standardized products, will be particularly distinguished by special solutions in the field of automation and safety technology. The main focus is on the innovative L-PRO® laser safety cabin designed by Brühl, which offers high process safety for all laser types, powers and focal lengths.

New direction as a digital company.
Safety Fence Designer retires and the new System Inventor takes over.
With the founding of Brühl Project, Brühl is expanding its product range to include innovative solutions in the field of automation and safety technology. As a new product, L-PRO®, an active laser protection cabin, is launched on the market.
In order to meet the continuously increasing space requirements in the production and administration area, Brühl Safety GmbH buys a new site in Waldstr. 17 in March 2018, where plant 2 is built.
Due to the growing customer base and the international orientation, Hans Georg Brühl GmbH is renamed Brühl Safety GmbH. Kai Wienecke becomes the third managing director.
At the end of the year, Brühl buys ME-GmbH, which specializes in the construction of safety gate systems.
With more than 130 employees, Brühl can look back on 2012 as the year with the highest order intake in the company's history to date.
Automatica 2012 sees the launch of the Brühl Safety Fence Designer, an innovative fence planning tool from Brühl that enables customers to integrate individual parts of Brühl products directly into their plant layout. At the end of the year, the company's premises are also doubled by the purchase of adjacent new land - there is no end in sight to the company's growth.
Brühl is awarded the "Sicher mit System" ("Safe with a System") seal of quality by the Berufsgenossenschaft Holz & Metall (BGHM), thus demonstrating systematic and effective occupational safety. A new administration building with an adjoining training and conference center is completed at the Netphen site. In Spain, Brühl starts a partnership with the company ADECUO SEGURIDAD EN MAQUINAS.
With a view to customer needs, Brühl enters into a partnership with the IBS Group to restructure domestic sales. The new Brühl general product catalog is also published for the first time. It has been designed as a handbook for machine and plant engineering to provide customers with better information and to involve them in all issues relating to protective equipment in machine and plant engineering.
In the year of the company's 25th anniversary, sales exceed the 15 million euro mark for the first time.
Brühl has its quality management certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 in order to meet the increased requirements on the national and international terrain.
Hans Georg Brühl GmbH has taken on an important role in the market for protective grilles and guards. In the meantime, the company employs more than 100 people. The capacity limit in production is again reached. An extension is built and the production area is increased by approx. 70 %.
The company growth continues, the managing directors can welcome the 50th employee of the company. An addition to the administration building provides new office space for the ever-growing workforce.
Due to the constantly increasing order situation, the capacity of the production hall in Dreis-Tiefenbach reaches its limits. A new production hall is built in Netphen in 1996 and occupied one year later.
Change of name to Hans Georg Brühl GmbH. The production site Dreis-Tiefenbach near Siegen is a conscious decision for the business location Germany, which goes hand in hand with the social responsibility for the preservation of jobs, quality assurance as well as environmental protection.
When Heinrich Brühl joins his twin brother's company 2 years later, the Hans Georg und Heinrich Brühl GbR is founded.
Master locksmith Hans Georg Brühl founds his own company for protective grating constructions as well as machine and welded parts.
